PDX – General Information
Protection Dog Xtreme Rules & Regulations:
- Any breed of dog and all mixed breed dogs shall be allowed.
- A dog that is determined to be out of control or a dangerous dog by the Evaluator shall not be allowed to trial.
- In all levels of obedience and protection, the dog must wear a metal chain collar.
- The collar must fit the dog, no “too large” or “oversized” collars will be allowed.
- No flat collars or harnesses are allowed for obedience.
- During an evaluation, a leash shall not be attached to the “live ring” of the collar.
- A leash, if used in obedience and/or protection evaluation, shall be no less than 32” or more than 72” in length.
- It is the Handler's option to request that the Evaluator call out the heeling pattern and each exercise to the Handler during the trial.
- All commands must be single words and can be of any language.
- Commands are given to the dog at each directed movement, including each change of pace.
- No food, balls, toys, or other “attractants” shall be allowed on the examination field during an evaluation.
- A sturdy flat collar with a metal buckle may be required for some protection exercises. Have one available.
- In all protection exercises the decoy/s shall utilize either a bite suit or a hidden sleeve, as required.
- An evaluation fee for each level entered shall be paid prior to the evaluation of any K-9 team.
- A K-9 Team receiving a passing grade from the Evaluator shall be awarded a Certificate of Achievement from SDAssoc. and the accomplishment shall be recorded on the Service Dog Association web site at ServiceDogAssociation.com.
