SDAssoc's. Patrol Duty K-9 Program
Service Dog Association (SDAssoc.) is an organization that provides tests whereby law enforcement agencies, officers, and those training such dogs in the USA can train, demonstrate, evaluate, and certify their K-9's to either a recognized international standard or to a U.S. government approved standard.
The SDAssoc's. U.S. program is virtually identical to (or exceeds) the course content, training goals, and testing procedures of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Patrol Duty K-9 Team Certification Program approved on January 22, 1998 and used today by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission of the State of Florida.
SDAssoc. membership is open to all individuals. One need not be a sworn or certified officer to join SDAssoc. and evaluate a K-9 Team against the legislated FDLE Patrol Duty K-9 (PD K-9 Cert.) U.S. standards.
A member can either earn up to four individual Patrol Duty Titles (PD-Obedience, PD-ManWork, PD-BuildingSearch, & PD-AreaSearch) one at a time. When ready the K-9 Team can attempt Patrol Duty K-9 Certification (PD K-9 Cert.), that is passing all four phases in a single evaluation. Please read the following sections for a detailed explainations of how to earn Patrol Duty Titles and then details concerning the Patrol Duty K-9 Certification program.
